As the year winds down, you’ll have almost every weekend packed with parties and dinners to attend. You’ve gotten all your outfits planned but what about your make-up? What should you go for: glitter on the eyes or bold red lips?
Well one thing for sure is this is the time to be bold and fun with your make-up because it’s all about enjoying yourself. Here are some ideas you could try out for this year’s parties.
Bold lips and heavy eye make-up
Yes this is a lot of make-up but it just gives you an overall seductive and rebellious look all at once. Think Rihanna or Megan Fox. The key to perfecting this make-up is to make sure you prep your skin extremely well first. Scrub, moisturize then put on your foundation and contour. It would be wise to practice a few colours with this look first before choosing the one that brings out your best feature.
Choose this look if you’re having a lunch get-together with family members. You don’t want them choking on their food just because you came fully armoured with glitter. It’s better to tone down the make-up during the day time to allow your skin to breathe and recuperate from all the partying you did the night before.
Black eye-liner and red lips
This is my favourite look for Christmas as it is subtle but glamorous at the same time. It’s the kind of look that would go well with any outfit and look. Just make sure you choose the correct red hue for your lips to avoid your face looking too ashy or too dark.
Funky eye make-up
If you’ll be attending a very vibrant and fun party, then amp up your look by experimenting with non-conventional colours for your eyes. Be the life of the party by having yellow, bright blue or teal eyeshadow. Just make sure you keep the rest of the face toned down as too many colours will look messy.
Glitter and false eyelashes
It is Christmas and New Year after all and now is the time to wear that glitter eye shadow that you’ve been keeping at the back of the drawer. Glitter just opens up and brightens any eye so dab some on your eyelids to give it a lift. Handle your glitter with caution as you do not want it getting all over your face and looking like a disco ball. It’s best to do your eyes first then proceed with the rest of the face so that you can remove any excess glitter with wet wipes. Finish the look with those falsies and nude lips.
