Mum’s List 26 December, 2016 Michelle Chee

Children’s rooms are where they spend a large part of their day and therefore, it should be a place associated with fun and cheer. Parents are usually the ones that decorate their children’s rooms and its therefore important to make sure you choose the right items so that your child stays safe and happy. If you’re a parent who would like to know how to best decorate your child’s bedroom, here are some useful tips:
Safety is Paramount
Always keep your child’s safety in mind when choosing a piece of furniture or decoration. This means no items with sharp edges, pointy parts of small components that they can swallow by mistake. It’s also wise to stay away from objects made of breakable material like glass or ceramic, in order to minimize accidents.
Keep to Their Height
When choosing storage equipment like wardrobes, drawers and cupboards, pick those that are at the same height as your child. This is to allow them easy access to their own things, and don’t have to endanger themselves climbing up stools to reach what they want.
Create a Display Corner
Kids love to put up their arts and craft on display, and it would be good if you can put up a soft cork board or any other type of display board that your kid can hand up their drawings, as well as a small table to display their 3D creations.
Don’t Clutter the Room
Don’t fill your child’s room with too many things, as they are still growing and need space to play and move about. Giving them a larger area will also mean that they bump into things a lot less, and have a brighter and more airy room.
